PURPOSE:
To consider approving the annual funding of $95,814 for the Park Pride Atlanta, Inc. contract with the Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Department for the term of 01/01/2019 thru 12/31/2019.
NEED/IMPACT:
Park Pride Atlanta, Inc., a nonprofit organization, has a successful history of developing and sustaining Friends of Parks groups, organizing community park cleanups, encouraging and managing private financial support, and enhancing the quality and enjoyment of parks. Park Pride has successfully worked in DeKalb County parks since 2010 and has been instrumental in the creation of over 48 Friends of Parks groups. Since 2010, the Friends Groups have coordinated 542 volunteer events in DeKalb County parks with volunteer hours totaling 48,171 at a value of $1,078,914. Park Pride grants totaling $455,215 have been awarded to Friends Groups for park improvements. In 2018, the Friends Groups have implemented 86 volunteer projects and accumulated 4,841 volunteer hours with an estimated value of $119,525. The partnership approach encourages the surrounding communities to become more involved in volunteer projects in their neighborhood parks.
This is a three year contract with a term of 01/01/2017 thru 12/31/2019. Funding for the contract is approved annually.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The annual funding for the proposed renewal is $95,814.00 to be funded from RPCA operating account 06101.521209.271.0000.0000.
