PURPOSE:

1.                     To consider pre-acceptance of a grant from the Georgia Department of Labor not to exceed $278,133.47 for SNAP for PY 2019.

2. To consider authorizing the transfer of the funds when appropriate; and

3. To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute the necessary document.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The SNAP 2.0 grant provides funding for employment and training activities for individuals receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).  These funds will be used to provide individuals with job search assistance including labor market information, occupational trend information, resume preparation, and assistance in identifying employment opportunities available through both online and direct job sites.  In addition, funding will be used to provide interest, aptitude assessments, and occupational skills training opportunities for SNAP eligible customers.  No funds have been received or expended the above-mentioned grants.  

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Federal Funds - U.S. Department of Labor; no matching funds are required.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

                     Pre-accept the SNAP 2.0 Grant, not to exceed $278,133.47 for employment and training activities of SNAP for PY 2019;

 

 

                     Appropriate the amount of funds awarded to the Grant Fund;

                     Authorize the transfer of funds between grants when appropriate; and

                     Authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
