PURPOSE:
Pursuant to 13A of the Organizational Act where “The chief executive shall nominate a person by sending a written notice to the commission,” CEO Thurmond is nominating Ms. Meredith McCoyd for reappointment to Post #3 onto the DeKalb Community Service Board, which holds a three-year term that will expire on June 30, 2022.
NEED/IMPACT:
The DeKalb Community Service Board provides mental health, developmental disability, and addictive diseases services at its facilities in DeKalb County. As stipulated in the DeKalb Community Service Board bylaws, the county governing authority shall appoint at least one of its appointments to be “a consumer of disability services, child psychiatrist, family member of a consumer, advocate for disability services, or a local leader or businessperson with an interest in mental health, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases.” Ms. Meredith McCoyd’s reappointment to the board would be an asset to the county and those who rely on the services provided through the DeKalb Community Service Board.
