PURPOSE:
To consider accepting grant funds in the amount of $31,326.00, from the Centers of Disease Control, through the Georgia Department of Public Health, for the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office
NEED/IMPACT:
The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Georgia Department of Public Health will participate in the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A). OD2A links medical examiner and coroner reports to mortality data create a census of unintentional drug overdoses in Georgia. Funding provided by the Centers for Disease Control will be allocated to provide the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office with the resources to conduct 138 toxicology tests on suspected unintentional drug overdose deaths.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund because there is no match requirement.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
Accept the grand funding in the amount of $31,326.00 for the Centers for Disease Control, through the Georgia Department of Public Health, for the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office, appropriate the funds to the grant fund, authorize disbursements and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
