PURPOSE:
To consider approval of the transfer of FY2020 Dislocated Worker WIOA grants funds in the amount of $800,000 to FY 2020 Adult programs.

NEED/IMPACT:

WorkSource Dekalb received an allocation of $1,643,920 of FY 2020 funds to provide Dislocated Worker services through Technical College System of Georgia. Based on our service goals for adult participants, it has been determined that we can provide a better level of service to constituents by transferring $800,000 in funds from the FY 2020 Dislocated Worker Award to Adult Award.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides funding for Adult and Dislocated Worker participants for employment and training activities. The transferred funds will be used to provide adult citizens of Dekalb County with job search assistance, labor market information, occupational trend information, resume preparation, and assistance in identifying employment opportunities available through both online and direct job sites. In addition, funding will be used to provide interest and aptitude assessments, and occupational skills training opportunities for WIOA eligible customers.

The transfer for FY 2020 Dislocated Worker funds to Adult funding will serve approximately thirty-two (32) Adults in Dekalb County. This action has been approved by the WorkSource Dekalb Board (WSDB).

FISCAL IMPACT:
No impact to County funds. 100% Federal Funds-U.S. Department of Labor; no matching funds required.
