PURPOSE:
To consider accepting a grant award in the amount of $18,114.80 from the Atlanta Regional Commission for meals for DeKalb seniors during the COVID-19 Pandemic and to appropriate the funds to the grant fund.
NEED/IMPACT:
In the Atlanta metro area 14% of the population does not have enough food to eat on a regular basis which is known as experiencing food insecurity. There are approximately 132,000 seniors living in DeKalb County and eighty-eight (88) of these seniors are currently on a Wait List to receive assistance from the Human Services Department, Office of Aging. The purpose of this grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission is to provide funding to pay for meals for the eighty-eight (88) seniors that are on the Wait List. Additional funding has been made available to support COVID-19 efforts. If approved, this grant will provide additional meals for these seniors for up to five (5) weeks.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund because there is no match requirement.

Recommended Action
Accept the grant award in the amount of $18,114.80 from the Atlanta Regional Commission for Meals for Seniors during COVID-19; Appropriate the funds to the grant fund; Authorize disbursements and Authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents
