PURPOSE:
•To consider approving the GY2017 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant to receive project equipment; and
•To consider accepting project equipment purchased by UASI on behalf of the DeKalb County Police Department in the amount of $463,959.50; and
•To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute the necessary documents.
NEED/IMPACT:
The attached MOU governs the use of equipment provided by UASI to assist the DeKalb County Police Department in preventing, protecting, responding to, and recovering from threats or acts of terrorism and to build capabilities that enhance homeland security. This equipment will support the DeKalb County Police Department’s, Special Services Division’s law enforcement operations program in aviation.
