PURPOSE:
To authorize payment to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for the water installation/adjustments to upgrade and add safety improvements associated with the following project; and to authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute agreement that allow for the payments and to execute all necessary documents to complete this transaction:

? PI0009400 Buford Hwy/SR13 from Afton Ln/CS8 to Shallowford Terrace/CS750 - Water Improvements estimated $9,878,048.78

NEED/IMPACT:
The GDOT projects P.I. No. 0009400 for the water installation/adjustments to upgrade and add safety improvements on SR 13 from City Street 8 Afton Lane to City Street 750/Shallowford Terrance in DeKalb County, Georgia. The Department of Watershed Management has existing utilities within the construction limits that are in conflict with the proposed work or need to be replaced due to age. Therefore, the County entered into a Contact Item Agreement with GDOT to include installations/adjustments for the SR 13 Buford Hwy Improvements project to prevent construction delays, minimized impact to adjacent property owners and the traveling public. The County must agree to pay the estimated cost of completing the work; the exact payment amount will be based on unit bid prices.
