PURPOSE:
To obtain Board of Commissioners approval and acceptance of an equipment grant estimated at $9,000 for Redan Garcia Park
NEED/IMPACT:
The Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Department has received irrigation/garden equipment from The Urban Conservation Toolbox Grant. The grant was applied for and received by the Chapman Mill/Redan Park Community Development Corporation for the Redan Garcia Park at 5338 Redan Road. The grant donation consists of one (1) high tunnel, three (3) raised beads and one (1) micro irrigation system and is valued at an estimated $9,000. The equipment will be used to educate the local community on production of fresh health foods. The park will also be able to produce vegetables year-round to supply local fresh produce to the surrounding community.

RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the resolution to accept the donation of irrigation/garden equipment from The Urban Conservation Toolbox Grant obtained by the Chapman Mill/Redan Park Community Development Corporation; and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents for the completion of the project.
