PURPOSE:
To approve a resolution to appropriate Federal Coronavirus Relief Fund proceeds assigned to POETA Account
#105424.63258.521209.01.05.602313, for the purposes of Maintaining Food Security for students, providing
technology for virtual learning and broadband access to students in DeKalb affected by the COVID-19
pandemic and provide temporary housing assistance to residents who are in need.
NEED/IMPACT:
COVID - 19 has impacted many families in District 5 and Public relief is needed to counter the impact of the
Coronavirus. This budget amendment will place resources with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to
provide relief and support to residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Appropriate an amount not to exceed $315,000 from POETA Account #105424.63258.521209.01.05.602313 to
the following Community Based Organizations/ District Initiatives listed below.
* FBC Family Life Center, Inc - $25,000 (Rent/Mortgage/Utility for Sex Trafficking Victims, Food Security, Virtual Learning Assistance)
* Be Ruth, Inc -- $10,000 (Food Security, Rent/Mortgage/Utility Assistance, Virtual Learning Assistance, Other Emergency Financial Assistance)
