PURPOSE:

To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute any and all necessary documents.

NEED/IMPACT:

DeKalb County’s Family Protection Center (FPC), the first of its kind in the metro-area, was created in 2015, with a mission of harnessing the collaborative strength of DeKalb County, its agencies and other non-profit partner agencies with the core mission of serving victims of certain crimes in one central location for the benefit of DeKalb County citizens.

Located on the first floor of the Fire and Rescue Headquarters, the FPC space was created in 2015. With approximately 9,000 sq. ft., the FPC is a centralized location that provides the FPC stakeholders with the necessary infrastructure to coordinate and/or provide services such as trauma and victim-informed counseling, safety planning, referrals, criminal justice support, and crisis intervention services to victims of family violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Additionally, the FPC is specifically designed and constructed to conduct forensic interviews and sexual assault exams.  In all, FPC provides much needed office space, examination rooms, a conference/meeting room, and victim waiting areas.

The Law Department has approved the Lease as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No additional funds are required for this agreement, and none are being requested at this time.
