PURPOSE:

DWM is requesting additional funding to the GDOT PI0009400 agreement for Buford Hwy/SR13 from Afton Ln/CS8 to Shallowford Terrace/CS750 improvement that is associated with Watershed Management in the amount of $1,136,200. GDOT’s original quote submitted to DWM dated April 24, 2020 stated the DWM’s portion being $9,878,048.78 however some items were omitted in the original agreement. Additional work was resubmitted for the resurfacing and water and sewer installation/adjustments associated with Buford Hwy/SR13 from Afton Ln/CS8 to Shallowford Terrace/CS750 project

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The GDOT projects P.I. No. 0009400 for the water installation/adjustments to upgrade and add safety improvements on Buford Hwy/SR13 from Afton Ln/CS8 to Shallowford in DeKalb County, Georgia. The Department of Watershed Management has existing utilities within the construction limits that are in conflict with the proposed work or need to be replaced due to age. Therefore, the County entered into a Contact Item Agreement with GDOT to include installations/adjustments for the Buford Hwy/SR13 from Afton Ln/CS8 to Shallowford project to prevent construction delays, minimized impact to adjacent property owners and the traveling public. The County must agree to pay the estimated cost of completing the work; the exact payment amount will be based on unit bid prices.

Request approval for the change to agenda item 2020-0509 in the amount of $1,136,200 to make the project total cost of $11,014,248.78 to be paid from Watershed Renewal & Extension(R&E) and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents for Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to perform resurfacing and water and sewer installation and adjustments associated with the following projects to complete these transactions.
