PURPOSE:
To consider accepting an emergency grant award in amount of $6,739 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to continue providing mental health and case management services to female offenders participating in the JOURNEY Mental Health Court.
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer and/or his designee to execute the Grant Agreement and all necessary documents
NEED/IMPACT:
The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council awarded DeKalb County Juvenile Court emergency funding for the continuation of mental health treatment services and case management services for youth participating in the JOURNEY Mental Health Court. The purpose of JOURNEY is to create a network of support for female offenders, who have committed a misdemeanor or felony offense as a result of their mental illness through the coordination and facilitation of treatment services, accountability, and prosocial activities.
The emergency grant award will continue funding the employment of the contracted case manager in addition to mental health services for youth enrolled in JOURNEY.
The grant period is April 1, 2021-June 30, 2021. The amount to be received from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council is $6,739. No match is required.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The award will provide additional funding and resources to Juvenile Court's overall grant budget. No match is required.
