PURPOSE:

To consider accepting an additional $35,000 to the annual Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grant from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the District Attorney’s Office for the grant year January 1, 2021 - December 31, 2021; and

To consider the continuation of the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Investigator position funded by the grant; and

To authorize the CEO to execute all necessary documents.

NEED/IMPACT:

The VAWA Grant’s purpose is to enhance services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking. The District Attorney’s Office has funded an investigator through this grant for several years.

The grant was previously approved for acceptance in the amount of $20,000. This is an increase to the original award, for a total of $55,000. The additional required match funds of $11,667 and additional funds required to sustain the position are maintained in 03910.573053.100 and are included at the 2020 level in the D.A’s 2020 budget request.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None. Match funds were included in the D.A’s FY 2021 budget, at the same level as for FY 2020.
