PURPOSE:

To adopt a resolution designating an urban redevelopment area within DeKalb County.

NEED/IMPACT:

The Urban Redevelopment Law (OCGA Section 36-61-1 et seq.) authorizes the Governing Authority to designate any area within DeKalb County as an “urban redevelopment area” - i.e., a “pocket of blight” which the Governing Authority designates as appropriate for an “urban redevelopment project.” After careful study and investigation, the County staff recommends that the Governing Authority designate the area described in Exhibit A of the attached resolution as an urban redevelopment area.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The cost of the urban redevelopment project for the urban redevelopment area is expected to be paid for with the unspent proceeds of the Urban Redevelopment Agency of DeKalb County, Georgia Revenue Bonds (DeKalb County, Georgia Project) Series 2010 (Federally Taxable Recovery Zone Economic Development Bond).

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To approve the resolution ad authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
