PURPOSE:
To appropriate District 7 reserves in the amount of $40,000 to the United Way of Greater Atlanta to assist with funding the AARP Foundation Experience Corps Program in DeKalb County Schools.
NEED/IMPACT:
The $40,000 appropriation will be used to assist with funding the AARP Foundation Experience Corps Program, which is an intergenerational volunteer-based tutoring program that assists children in the DeKalb County Schools with improving their reading level by the end of the third grade. Adults 50 years of age and older serve as volunteers in the program to disrupt the cycle of poverty to make a lasting difference to DeKalb’s most vulnerable children.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Increase appropriations for the following account by the amount indicated below:
Non-Departmental - Unincorporated Fund - Transfer to Grant Fund (09130.611250.272.0000.0000) - $40,000
Decrease appropriations for the following account by the amount indicated below:
Non-Departmental - Unincorporated Fund - Reserve for Appropriation (09130.579002.272.0000.0000) - $40,000
