PURPOSE:
The Braves Foundation has previously agreed to partner with DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs to make major renovations at Gresham Park. These additional donated amenities will be used to enhance the already ongoing project to convert Fields 4 and 7 to synthetic turf with the addition of shade structures over the bleachers and an enlarged scoreboard at Field 7. The Department is seeking authorization to partner with the Braves Foundation and to receive the donation amenities that are valued at $35,000. The Braves Foundation, in partnership with the Department, is committed to improving and enhancing the fields at Gresham Park and encouraging youth to play baseball.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Braves Foundation, in partnership with the DeKalb Recreation and Parks Department and the Gresham Park Youth Athletic Association, will add shade structures and an enlarged scoreboard to Field #7. These additional improvements in connection with the already ongoing field renovations will provide an immediate impact on 450 little league baseball players, more than 200 football players and approximately 100 cheerleaders that participate in the Gresham Park Youth Athletic Association.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The acceptance of these donated amenities will increase the capital outlay for the DeKalb Recreation and Parks Department by the amount of $35,000.
