PURPOSE:

To accept and appropriate the Federal Award from U.S. Department of Treasury Emergency Rental Assistance Grant under the American Rescue Plan Act, 2021, in the amount of $9,888,498.08. The effective date of May 10, 2021 through September 30, 2025.  To appropriate funds into Cost Center 63258 and Grant Fund 258.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The grant funds are to assist Dekalb County residents that are struggling to pay rent, utilities, and other home energy costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program will prevent and protect families from evictions by keeping families in their homes and will reduce/prevent the risk of homelessness and/or home instability. Payments will be made towards rent, rental arrears, utilities. Home energy cost that are in the arrears will also be covered. Funds will provide financial assistance and relief to eligible households through existing or newly created assistance programs.

Match- this grant requires no match contribution.

Recommended Action

To accept and approve the grant funds of $9,888,498.08, to authorize disbursement per the terms of the grant agreement, and to authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
