NEED/IMPACT:

The Hebrew Order of David is a successor organization to a Jewish brotherhood, the Hebrew Order of Druids, originally established in England in 1896 as a friendly society for the benefit of its members. In 1995, the order was revived in the United Kingdom, and in 1999, a lodge was established in Atlanta, Ga. Today there are 24 Lodges worldwide, with direction and policy being provided by Grand Lodge in South Africa.

The Atlanta Kosher Barbeque Festival is the largest kosher barbeque competition in the Southeast. The festival strives to introduce kosher barbeque to aficionados in Atlanta and show new food options to those who follow the laws of kashrut. It (festival) was created based on the warm Southern hospitality, its barbecue teams experience, and the friendly competition of its barbeque chefs. The 2019 event champion, the BBQ’N Hebrew Hillbillies, will defend their crown against teams of amateurs and professionals, including teams consisting of several local police and fire rescue departments. The festival will also feature competitors from Chicago and Texas.

The festival is returning for its eighth year after missing 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The annual festival typically attracts up to 4,000 attendees and is presented by the Atlanta Lodges of the Hebrew Order of David and the Maccabi Future Leaders Forum. The event is scheduled for October 17, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brook Run Park in Dunwoody, located at 4770 North Peachtree Road.
