PURPOSE:

To consider the transfer of $139,644 from the Victim Assistance Fund 206 to the Grant Fund in Cost Center 67510 Human Services- Fund 250

NEED/IMPACT:

In the County’s Adopted 2021 Budget, $289,644 was approved for State Certified Victim Assistance organizations. In September 2021, the BOC approved $150,000 of these funds for a contract with Women’s Resource Center (dba Women Moving On, Inc.) to provide crisis intervention services to women and their children. The balance of $139,644 will be allocated to the other non-profits that provide similar services for DeKalb residents that experience domestic violence.

The Human Services Department has identified eleven (11) local non-profits that have State Certification to provide services and supports to victims of domestic violence. The grant period for all grants will be for one year from the date of BOC approval. The transfer of funds from the Victim Assistance Fund to the Human Services Grant Fund will help avoid the delay of payment to these non-profit agencies which provide such critical services.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact- as this action only transfers already appropriated funds.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Transfer $139,644 from the Victim Assistance Fund 206 to the Grant Fund in Cost Center 67510 Human Services Fund- 250; Authorize disbursements under the terms of the grant agreement and to authorize the Chief Executive to execute all necessary documents.
