PURPOSE:
To approve the appropriation (amount not to exceed) $675,000 from the District 3 ARP Award from POETA Account # 105744.63258.521209.01.03.602479 to support Rent, Mortgage, Utilities, Food, Water Bill Assistance, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and any other essential needs for those impacted by COVID-19.
NEED/IMPACT:
The funds are being appropriated to help the many families within District 3 that have experienced job loss, reduced wages and require emergency assistance during the pandemic. The funding will be provided to Community Based Organizations (CBO) to help sustain the families during this difficult period.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The funding will come from District 3 ARP Award from POETA Account # 105744.63258.521209.01.03.602479 and appropriated to the following agencies:
O Atlanta Legal Aide - 100,000 ((Evictions, Legal Counsel and Advice)
o New Life Community Ministries Inc. - $100,000 (Food, Mortgage, Rent, Utilities and Water Bill Assistance)
o Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless - $100,000 (Food, Mortgage, Rent, Utilities and Water Bill Assistance)
o First African Community Development Corporation - $75,000 (Food, Mortgage, Rent, Utilities and Water Bill Assistance)
o MedShare International, Inc. - $50,000 (Personal Protective Equipment)
o Tabitha’s House - $50,000 ((Food, Mortgage, Rent, Utilities and Water Bill Assistance)
o Atlanta Masjid Inc. - 50,000 (Food, Mortgage, Rent, Utilities and Water Bill Assistance)
