PURPOSE:

To consider approving an agreement with the City of Decatur in an amount not to exceed $145,000. HUD CDBG funding will be used for the purchase of ADA accessible playground equipment at Legacy Park, 500 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030.

NEED/IMPACT:

The City of Decatur will install the ADA equipment in the 77-acre Legacy Park. The Park Master Plan identified that the park would establish community spaces for all and provide a wide range of uses.

The City will invest an additional $112,000 to cover site work, accessible surface material, freight, and installation costs.  The park will serve as a model and will become the City’s first park totally dedicated to special needs children and their caregivers regardless of physical and mental ability.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No Cost to the County.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To approve the resolution and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents to approve an agreement with the City of Decatur in an amount not to exceed $145,000 for ADA accessible playground equipment.
