PURPOSE:
To consider accepting Grant in the amount of $ 425,000 from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention ( OJJDP ) to provide comprehensive assessment and services to at risk and offender female youth ages 12 -17 in Dekalb County.
NEED/IMPACT:
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP ) awarded Dekalb County Juvenile Court
$425,000 to administer S.M.A.R.T Girls. The program will provide early assessment, education advocacy, individualized case planning , referral to appropriate services, evaluation of those services, and follow -up.
The program will serve as an umbrella of services that embrace the individuality of the at risk and female offender by creating services that address her unique needs in a setting that is conducive for her to flourish.
S.M.A.R.T. Girls will successfully close the gaps in services provided to females who come in contact with Juvenile Court and help them to emerge as strong, motivated, achieving, responsible, trendsetting girls that they are meant to be.
The Grant Period is October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2024.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The award will provide additional grant funds to the Juvenile Court for programs and services .Match will be in kind Staff to oversee and manage the project.
