PURPOSE:
To consider a three year extension of the Rental Agreement between DeKalb County, Georgia and the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta, Inc. for the use of portions of the Redan Recreation Center. The current agreement is set to expire on December 31, 2021.
NEED/IMPACT:
Currently, the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta, Inc. uses portions of the Redan Recreation Center to operate a weekday afterschool program between the hours of 2 pm and 6:30 pm when DeKalb County School System is in session and full days when the school system has school holidays and school breaks. Additionally, the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta, Inc. offers a weekday Summer Camp from 7:30 am to 6 pm. The current agreement is set to expire December 31, 2021 and this extension, if approved, will allow the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta to continue to operate these programs through December 31, 2024.
The extension, if approved, will be governed by the same terms and conditions currently included in the Rental Agreement, including a fixed rental rate of $1.00 annually and an Annual Project Payment of $20,000.00 per year made by the Boys and Girls Club to the County. The Annual Project payment will be set aside and used by the County to fund capital improvements, various events or other beneficial programming at the sole discretion of the County.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No cost to the County.
