PURPOSE:
Decatur Presbyterian Church (DPC) has been an integral part of the Decatur, GA community since 1825.Threshold Ministry is DPC's outreach ministry to the homeless and those suffering other effects of poverty.
This ARP funding, appropriated to District 6 POETA Account 105744.63258.521209.01.06.602479, will assist Threshold Ministry distribute financial assistance to applicants, in a non-discriminant process, who are able to prove financial hardship as well as efforts to tap into community resources already in place. Applications will be reviewed and approved by a team composed of Decatur Presbyterian Church's Threshold Director, a member of the Threshold Steering Team, one of the pastors of Decatur Presbyterian Church, and an elder of the congregation.
NEED/IMPACT:
A third of U.S. adults say they or someone in their household has been laid off or lost a job (including being furloughed and temporarily laid off) since the coronavirus outbreak began in February 2020. Many individuals and families continue to struggle. Threshold Ministry's purpose is to connect those in need with helpful resources and critical funds. This District 6 ARP appropriation will provide gap financial assistance as indicated above.
