PURPOSE:

•To consider approving the FY20 Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Program (COSSAP)/Narcan Grant; and
•To consider accepting $32,000.00, from the Office Of The Governor, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) and appropriating that amount to the Grant Fund for spending in compliance with the grantor’s requirements, and
•To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all the necessary documents.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

Funding from this award will be used to purchase Narcan kits and train officers how to use Narcan. Currently, officers do not possess any Narcan and do not have access to any. Operating procedures will be developed to ensure reporting in the Overdose Detection Mapping Application (ODMAP) Program and continued improvement in responding to calls from persons with addictions or who are in a drug induced crisis. The DeKalb County Police Department will obtain enough naloxone to cover its four police precincts.
