Request to Accept Emergency Subgrant Award from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for State Fiscal Year 2022 for the benefit of the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County’s Misdemeanor Mental Health Court (MMHC) in the sum of $20,000.

PURPOSE:

To accept emergency subgrant award in the amount of $20,000 awarded by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to the County for the benefit of the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County’s Misdemeanor Mental Health Court, which is the county’s adult misdemeanor mental health court.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The grant funds will be used to continue to support the court’s mission in a collaborative effort with other entities and agencies in the decriminalization of persons living with serious mental illness engaged in the criminal justice system.  Through the efforts of the MMHC, these funds will be used to defray costs associated with MMHC’s operations and treatment services for participants.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The county is not required to provide match funds for this award.

Recommended Action

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents and to accept the emergency subgrant award in the amount of $20,000 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the benefit of the Magistrate Court of DeKalb County’s Misdemeanor Mental Health Court.
