PURPOSE:
Asking board to consider accepting the S.T.O.P VAWA grant of $50,000, awarded to the Solicitor’s Office for the purpose of continued funding for the offices’ Special Victims Unit Domestic Violence Prosecuting Attorney. Awarded funds support the partial salary and fringe benefits of one (1) Domestic Violence Prosecuting Attorney.
Grant cycle is from January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022.
NEED/IMPACT:
The grant supports our ongoing efforts of running a specialized unit that focuses on combating Domestic Violence related cases. Our SVU has hired an attorney whose sole responsibility is to prosecute VAWA related crimes.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The award provides the Solicitors Office with much needed supplemental funding to use for Domestic Violence Prosecution. A county match of $16,667 is required. The match has been included in our annual operating account under Transfer to Grants. No additional asks from the county for funds will be made.

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer / chief operating officer to execute all necessary documents.
