PURPOSE:
The Clerk to Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Commissioners would like the minutes of the Commission to reflect appointments made by individual Commissioners to various boards and authorities. James Alec Gelin has indicated his interest to serve in his capacity as Commissioner Terry’s District 4 Community Council appointee.
Mr Gelin has lived in the Scottdale area for many years and has been a long-time community advocate who understands the nuances around this area and the need to balance affordability, growth, and environmental restraints for both longtime and new residents. James Alec Gelin has served DeKalb County as a previous appointment for both District 4 and District 6 on both the Initiative For A Green DeKalb Advisory Council and the Parks Bond Citizen Advisory Committee.
Commissioner Terry is prepared to appoint James Alec Gelin to fill the term, as a replacement for a previous D4 appointee to this position with a term ending on December 31, 2024, unless such term ends sooner as provided by law.
NEED/IMPACT:
Mr. Gelin will be replacing Graham “Ashton” Walker who was appointed in 2022 to District 4 Community Council by Commissioner Ted Terry.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No financial impact to DeKalb County

Recommended Action
Direct the Clerk to record the appointment of James Alec Gelin to the District 4 Community Council, appointed by District 6 Commissioner Ted Terry, to fulfill the term ending on December 31, 2024.
