PURPOSE:
Pursuant to Section 13.5-3 of the DeKalb County Code, where, for the appointment of members to the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission the “chief executive officer or designee shall nominate individuals for confirmation by the board of commissioners as provided in Section 13A,” CEO Thurmond nominates Ms. Ellen Rankin for appointment to the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission in Seat 2 of Group A. This is for a three (3) year term which will expire June 30, 2026. Ms. Rankin will replace Ms. Mollie Bogle
NEED/IMPACT:
The purpose and intent of the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission is to establish a uniform procedure for use in providing for the protection, enhancement, perpetuation, and use of places, districts, sites, buildings, structures, objects, landscape features and works of art having special historical, cultural, or aesthetic interest, or value. Ms. Rankin is a highly qualified Architectural Historian with over 20 years of professional project experience throughout the Eastern United States and its territories. She manages research design, planning and performance of historic preservation projects. She resides in Dunwoody and her appointment to the commission will be an asset to the county and those who rely on the services provided through the DeKalb County Historic Preservation Commission.

To confirm the appointment of Ms. Ellen Rankin to the Historic Preservation Commission in Seat 2 of Group A, with the term being effective upon confirmation and expiring on June 30, 2026.
