PURPOSE:
The purpose of this agenda item is to allocate emergency housing assistance funding to the following organizations:
1. First African Community Development Corporation
2. Ray of Hope Christian Church
3. New Life Community Alliance
4. New Birth Missionary Baptist Church
to assist with eviction forbearance, utility and water billing assistance, and other administrative costs.
NEED/IMPACT:
Many families are suffering and have fallen significantly behind in mortgage and other utility payments. As a result, many families are experiencing the reality of possible evictions and/or disconnection of utilities. This allocation will keep many families from being displaced and provide needed assistance DeKalb County’s citizens.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To allocate:
$50,000 to First African Community Development Corporation for the purposes of Eviction Forbearance, Utility and Water Billing Assistance, and other administrative costs
$50,000 to Ray of Hope Christian Church for the purposes of Eviction Forbearance, Utility and Water Billing Assistance, and other administrative costs
$75,000 to New Life Community Alliance for the purposes of Eviction Forbearance, Utility Assistance, and other administrative costs
$50,000 to New Birth Missionary Baptist Church for the purposes of Eviction Forbearance, Utility Assistance, and other administrative costs
