PURPOSE:

*To consider approving the State of Georgia FY25 Gang Activity Prosecution (GAP) grant from the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) and
*To consider accepting $9,000.00 from GEMA/HS and appropriating that amount to the grant fund for spending in compliance with the grantor’s requirements, and
*To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The FY25 Georgia Gang Activity Prosecution Grant (GAP) program is to support state and local efforts to prosecute gang-related activity.  The program is based on risk-driven, capabilities-based strategic plans that outline high-priority needs relating to gang activity prosecution.  Funding from this award will be used to support and maintain the Formulytics gang intelligence and prosecution deployment software program.  Information obtained from this system has been vital in understanding and combating criminal gang activity in DeKalb County.  Formulytics information is used to build cases against gangs, and it allows the DeKalb County Police Department to share information with local, state, and federal partners.

Recommended Action

*To approve the State of Georgia FY25 Gang Activity Prosecution (GAP) grant; and *To accept $9,000.00 from the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) and appropriating that amount to the grant fund for spending in compliance with the grantor’s requirements; and *To approve the resolution and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
