PURPOSE:

To consider accepting additional grant funds in the amount of $25,019.00 for a total allocation for fiscal year of 2021 through 2022 of $56,345.00. Also, to consider accepting $30,975.00 for fiscal year 2022 through 2023 from Centers of Disease Control through the Georgia Department of Public Health for the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Georgia Department of Public Health participates in the Overdose Data to Action Program (OD2A). OD2A links medical examiner and coroner reports to monthly data to create a census of unintentional drug overdoses in Georgia. Funding provided by the Centers for Disease Control will be allocated to provide the DeKalb County Medical Examiners Office with the resources to conduct 192 toxicology tests for fiscal year 2021 through 2022; and 105 toxicology tests for the fiscal year 2022 through 2023.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund because there is no match required.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Accept the grant funding in the amount of $56,345.00 for fiscal year 2021 through 2022 and $30,975.00 for fiscal year 2022 through 2023 from the Centers for Disease Control through the Georgia Department of Public Health, for the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office, appropriate the funds to the grant fund, authorize disbursements, and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
