PURPOSE:

NEED/IMPACT:
The D.A.’s Office received $5,000 to promote community awareness of crime victims’ rights and services during the 2024 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, April 21-27, 2024. In conjunction with National Child Abuse Prevention month in April, leading up to, and during, the week, the D.A. will be conducting a Child Abuse Prevention Campaign, in partnership with Prevent Child Abuse Georgia. Funding will allow for static and transit informational billboards to be placed in highly visible areas throughout the County. Funding will cover a community and media event on the Courthouse steps, which will include a pinwheel “garden,” where educational signs and 98 pinwheels will represent the 9,800 confirmed child abuse cases in Ga. in the most recent annual count. Additionally, informational yard signs will be printed and circulated to each neighborhood who has joined with the D.A.’s Community Partnerships Unit.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No additional or matching funds are required, and no additional funds are needed to develop the initiative; no funds are being requested.
