PURPOSE:
This agenda item will revise the funding source from ARP Interest to ARP Reserve for Appropriation for the Allocation of $30,000 for the youth programming through New Birth Church.
NEED/IMPACT:
The allocation of up to $30,000 in District 7 ARP Interest funding to support youth programming through New
Birth Missionary Baptist Church is an important investment in the long-term well-being of DeKalb County.
Many families across the district are experiencing increased financial strain due to rising living costs, income
instability, and limited access to affordable enrichment opportunities for their children. Strengthening youth
programs helps provide safe, structured environments that promote academic success, social development, and
mentorship at a time when families need additional support. New Birth serves as a trusted community anchor
with the capacity to reach a broad cross-section of youth, particularly those most affected by recent economic
pressures. This funding expands access to high-quality programming, reinforces community stability, and
advances DeKalb County’s commitment to equity, opportunity, and youth empowerment.
