NEED/IMPACT:

On May 12, 2020, the Board of Commissioners approved committing $3,000,000 in SPLOST funds land acquisition and construction for the South River Trail segment from Custer Avenue to Crestdale.  On September 24, 2019, the Board of Commissioners authorized an application for federal funds for multiple transportation projects, including the adjacent section of trail from Crestdale Circle to near Boulder Walk Drive.  Funding for the preliminary engineering phase was approved by the Atlanta Regional Commission.  These funds will be managed by the Georgia Department of Transportation and will be distributed to DeKalb County on a reimbursable basis.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The local match of $160,000 is proposed to be funded from SPLOST line 1B.  Future matching funds will be needed for the land acquisition and construction phases.
