PURPOSE:

 To consider accepting a grant award in amount of $40,186 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to continue providing intensive drug and/or alcohol treatment, supervision and wrap around services to adults with children in Division of Family and Children Services (DFACs) custody and struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction.

                     To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer and/or his designee to execute the Grant Agreement and all necessary documents

 

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council awarded DeKalb County Juvenile Court funding for the INSPIRE Family Treatment Court.  It is a 18-24-month comprehensive program that will utilize a team approach to working with adults with children in Division of Family and Children Services (DFACs) custody and struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction.  Participants will engage in intensive long-term treatment in conjunction with individual and group therapy, accountability through frequent court appearances, random drug screenings, and community-based support.

 

The grant award will fund a surveillance officer, treatment providers, training for staff, Marta transportation, and supplies.

 

The grant period is July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023.  The amount to be received from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council is $40,186. The award requires a 12% match in the amount of $5,480.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The award will provide additional funding and resources to Juvenile Court’s overall grant budget. The grant award requires a cash match of $5,480, which will come from the Juvenile Court’s operating budget

Recommended Action

 To approve and accept funds in the amount of $40,186 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the purposes of funding DeKalb Juvenile Court’s INSPIRE Family Treatment Court and authorize the Chief Executive Officer and/or designee to execute the Grant Agreement and all necessary documents.
