PURPOSE:
To transfer $20,000 from 2001 Parks Bond District 2 accounts 100592.80314.541100.05.600010 to a District 2 Briarlake Park Development account to match a Five Star & Waters Restoration Program grant obtain by the Friends of Briarlake Park.
NEED/IMPACT:
This funding is needed to match a Five Star & Waters Restoration Program grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation obtained by the Friends of Briarlake Park. Total cost of the project is $52,360 with the following funding sources:
$25,000 NFWF Five Star Grant
$20,000 DeKalb County Government 2001 Parks Bond District 2
$5,000 Friends of Briarlake Park
$860 Park Pride coordination two group volunteer events (in-kind)
$500 Eco-Addendum provide community outreach (in-kind)
$1,000 Deep Forest Field School provide educational installations (in-kind)
The $25,000 grant funds consist of $24,000 non-Federal funds from Southern Company and $1,000 Federal funds from US Forest Service. The funds will be used to restore 15 acres of urban, mature forest habitat to improve local area green water infrastructure (via improved storm water intake, outflow and drainage) in the Echo Lake corridor and remove invasive vegetation threatening the forest tree canopy and the forest habitat.

No impact to the operating budget. Funded by 2001 Parks Bond District 2
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
Recommend that funds in the amount of $20,00.00 be transferred from 2001 Parks Bond District 2 account 100592.80314.541100.05.600010 to a District 2 Briarlake Park Development account to match a Five Star & Waters Restoration Program grant; and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all the necessary documents and contracts for the completion of the project.
