PURPOSE:
To consider approving a contract with Friends of Disabled Adults and Children Too, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $205,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the renovation of the agency’s facility located at 4900 Lewis Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30083. Friends of Disabled Adults and Children Too, Inc. is an agency that provides home health care equipment-mobility aids and daily living devices for people disabled or newly injured.
NEED/IMPACT:
The BOC approved the update to the 2014 - 2018 Consolidated Plan including the 2017 Annual Action Plan on August 8, 2017, which allocated CDBG funding to Friends of Disabled Adults and Children Too, Inc. to enable completion of this renovation project. CDBG funds will be leveraged against $240,000 in matching FODAC funds. The Friends of Disabled Adults and Children Too, Inc. will use the funds to renovate its existing facility in the following manner: (1) Installation of seven [7] new HVAC systems, (2) LED upgrades to the facility, (3) Restructured lighting plan to include motion sensors, (4) Expansion of the HME sanitation area of 1,248 sq. ft., (5) Improved drainage and drying for improved quality of sanitation, (6) Environmental friendly waterproof structure, flooring, and ceiling fans.
