NEED/IMPACT:
Songs for Kids provides music mentorship and interactive programs for kids and young adults with illnesses, injuries, and disabilities. They focus on creative expression, encourage exploration in a safe space, and never lose sight of the fun. The SFK center offers a wide variety of musical instruments to learn and play, professional studio and stage for DJing and recording music, and mentors who are ready to bring kids’ musical dreams to life. The SFK Band is a rotating ensemble of kids and young adults with disabilities and illnesses from the music mentorship program. Families with children who have illnesses, injuries, genetic disorders, or special needs are often under significant financial strain stemming from their child’s unique situation. The mentorship program is weekly and year-round for each kid, and 100% free for families.
