PURPOSE:
This 2024 District 6 Reserve for Appropriations Youth Fund will provide the necessary funding to support the addition of a pavilion for the benefit of the youth participating and the dedicated officers who staff and volunteer in the DeKalb Police Athletic League Plus program and activities.
NEED/IMPACT:
PAL Inc. is a charitable non-profit organization, whose goal is to have a positive impact on the youth of DeKalb County with its primary focus to provide a “safe-haven” for kids and support their growth. PAL Inc. utilizes preventative programming and activities to combat juvenile crime as it affects all of DeKalb County and its residents, businesses, and visitors. DeKalb youth are vulnerable to crime, drug use, and suicide attributed to the short and long-term effects of COVID. DeKalb County PAL Inc. PLUS programming has incorporated a combination of education, athletic and crime prevention initiatives. The addition of the pavilion will provide shelter for youth participating in the various programs provided by the PAL program.
The Governing Authority of DeKalb County is committed to our youth and providing the support and resources that enhance interest in participating and executing safe and impacting programs. The proposal and estimate is attached.
FISCAL IMPACT: D6 Reserve for Appropriations General Fund-Youth Initiatives

RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the appropriation of $45,600 from the 2024 District 6 District 6 Reserve for Appropriations Youth Fund for the DeKalb County Police Athletic League Plus for the project addition of a pavilion for the benefit of the youth participating in the DeKalb Police Athletic League Plus; and authorize the Chief Executive Officer or his designee to execute all necessary documents.
