Rescind the unspent balance of $52,990 of Previously BOC Approved 2022-1952-District 6 ARP Appropriations to Support a Brannon Hills Public Health and Public Safety Fund and Return Balance of This Fund to the District 6 ARP Tranche 1 to Reappropriate to Qualified D6 Projects that Address Long-term COVID Recovery Needs

Phone Number: 404-371-4909

PURPOSE:

In July 2022 agenda item 2022-1952 was approved for $100K District 6 ARP to establish a Brannon Hills Fund to support current and future public health and public safety initiatives implemented by Public Safety, and other DeKalb County departments to address the myriad Brannon Hills Condominium resident’s needs.

To address this, funding was allocated for Flock Cameras and for commercial dumpsters, planning and execution of two massive community clean ups. There is a balance that has been confirmed by Grants Management of $52,990.  Commissioner Terry would like to rescind this balance and return it to the D6 tranche 1 to reappropriate to qualified ARP expenses since this Brannon Hills Public Health and Public Safety Fund is no longer needed.

NEED/IMPACT:

2022-1952 was approved by the Governing Body as a qualified allocation to appropriate to support joint efforts to increase police presence, strategies to arrest and convict violent offenders, and major cleanup initiatives to help mitigate crime as a public health issue.

The balance of this fund will be returned to the District 6 ARP tranche 1 to reappropriate to qualified D6 projects that address long-term COVID recovery needs.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact to the County, the balance of this funding, $52,990 will be rescinded and returned to the District 6 ARP tranche 1 so that it can be reappropriate to other qualified community needs.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Approve to rescind the balance of $52,900 from 2022-1952-Brannon Hills Safety Fund and have the appropriate department return this balance to the District 6 ARP tranche 1 for re-appropriation.
