Phone Number: 404-371-4909
PURPOSE:
Recording of the resignation of Art Hansen and the Appointment of Donna Skelcy to the District 2 Community Council
NEED/IMPACT:
The Clerk to Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Commissioners would like the minutes of the Commission to reflect appointments made by individual Commissioners to various boards and authorities. Art Hansen, previously appointed by former Commissioner Kathie Gannon, retired as the District 2 Community Council appointee. He has diligently served for close to a decade and we are all grateful for his contributions.
As Commissioner Terry begins his 2nd term as the Super District Commissioner, his intention is to appoint Donna Skelcy as his District 2 Community Council appointee. Ms. Skelcy is a retired Lawyer who has resided in District 2 for over a decade. Prior to her corporate relocation to Georgia, she lived in Novi, Michigan. She was appointed to the Novi Zoning board by the mayor. She brings experiences handling resident and business requests for zoning variances that included variances for signs, set backs, and zoning uses.
Commissioner Terry is fortunate that she has indicated her intent to serve in this capacity and is confident that her diverse background and skill set will offer valuable perspective and contribute meaningfully. The Commissioner is prepared to appoint Donna Skelcy to mirror his Commission term ending on December 31, 2028, unless such term ends sooner as provided by law.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No Fiscal Impact to DeKalb County
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
Direct the Clerk to record the retirement of Art Hansen and the appointment of Donna Skelcy to the District 2 Community Council appointed by District 6 Commissioner Ted Terry, to fulfill the term ending on December 31, 2028.
