PURPOSE:
•To consider approving the FY 2019 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for the Metro Atlanta Multi-Jurisdictional DUI (HEAT) Task Force; and
•To consider accepting $34,342.65 from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and appropriating that amount to the Grant Fund along with appropriating the required match of $137,370.58 to the match fund (04693.573053.274) for spending in compliance with the grantor’s requirements; and
•To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all the necessary documents.
NEED/IMPACT:
This is a renewal grant of the DUI and Aggressive Driving Enforcement partnership between the DeKalb County Police Department and the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. These funds will be used for salaries as well as operating, training, and travel expenses incurred for Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (HEAT) operations by DeKalb Police Department Officers. Activities are directed towards combating aggressive and impaired driving.
