PURPOSE:
To ratify and clarify the adoption of Agenda Item 2024-0728, the Sanitation Division’s proposal to increase the annual sanitation residential services rate as approved on July 9, 2024
NEED/IMPACT:
Agenda Item 2024-0728 was presented in the Public Works and Infrastructure (“PWI”) committee meeting on June 27, 2024 and approved at the Board of Commissioners’ meeting on July 9, 2024. At PWI, attachment A was a part of a presentation on proposed increased sanitation rates. The intent was to include Attachment A as a part of item 2024-0728 and to adopt all of the various rates reflected thereon. Further, it was the intent, as expressed in PWI and from the floor at the July 9, 2024 Board of Commissioners’ meeting, that this approval include a commitment from the Administration to put out a request for proposal for the construction of a composting facility within six (6) months and, if feasible, to construct such composting facility within three (3) years. This Item attaches a clarification of the requested rate structure for ratification.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The approved fee increases will increase Sanitation’s revenue by $8.5M for FY24.

To ratify and clarify the adoption of the Sanitation Division’s proposal to increase the annual sanitation residential service rates as approved on July 9, 2024 included all rates outlined in Attachment A as well as a commitment from the Administration to put out a request for proposal for the construction of a composting facility within six (6) months and, if feasible, to construct such composting facility within three (3) years, and to authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents...
