PURPOSE:

 A resolution supporting County-Municipal collaboration in County-wide projects such as a Mental Health Crisis Recovery Center, Animal Shelter Expansion, and connecting Multi-Use Trail Systems are not only vital but also mutually beneficial for municipalities and unincorporated area.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The DeKalb County governing body understands that both county and municipal governments share a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents in their jurisdictions and collaboration between these entities can result in cost savings, greater efficiency, and maximized benefits for the citizens of DeKalb County. The renewal of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) serves as a crucial funding mechanism enabling DeKalb County to engage in substantial community improvement projects such as a Mental Health Crisis Recovery Center, Animal Shelter Expansion, and connecting Multi-Use Trail Systems that are not only vital but also mutually beneficial for municipalities and unincorporated areas.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

To adopt the attached resolution supporting County-Municipal collaboration in SPLOST II County-wide projects, urging the expeditious allocation of SPLOST 2 funds to the projects included in the resolution, recognizing their essential role in community development and well-being and disseminating and forwarding to the pertinent departments, municipalities, and stakeholders for immediate and collaborative action.
