Phone Number: 770-652-5319
PURPOSE:
To consider approving the lease/facilities use agreement between DeKalb County and the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy and between DeKalb and The International Women’s House as DeKalb County Family Protection Center's resident partners for a 1-year period to begin on Women May 1, 2025, with 4 optional renewal years, expiring on April 30, 2030; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute any necessary documents.
NEED/IMPACT:
DeKalb County’s Family Protection Center (FPC), the first of its kind in the metro-area, was created in 2015, with a mission of harnessing the collaborative strength of each partner and its core mission in one central location for the benefit of DeKalb County citizens who may be victims of family violence, child abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Located on the first floor of the Fire and Rescue Headquarters at 1950 West Exchange in Tucker, and at approximately 9,000 sq. ft., the FPC is a centralized location that provides the necessary infrastructure to specifically conduct forensic interviews, sexual assault exams, and victim support. Additionally, the FPC provides much needed office space, a conference/meeting room, and victim waiting areas to the current on-site FPC partners, the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy and the International Women’s House. This agenda item simply provides for no interruption in services by renewing the existing lease prior to the forthcoming expiration for both agencies’ leases.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No additional funds are required for this agreement, and none are being requested at this time.
