PURPOSE:

To consider accepting a grant award in amount of $12,600 from the Council of Accountability Court Judges (CACJ) to continue providing mental health case management services to female offenders participating in the Journey Mental Health Court.  

To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer and/or his designee to execute the Grant Agreement and all necessary documents

 

NEED/IMPACT:

The Council of Accountability Court Judges awarded DeKalb County Juvenile Court funding for the continuation of mental health treatment services to youth participating in the Journey Mental Health Court. The purpose of Journey is to create a network of support for female offenders, who have committed a misdemeanor or felony offense as a result of their mental illness through the coordination and facilitation of treatment services and prosocial activities. Services provided will include mental health treatment, individual, group and family therapy, wrap around services, parental support and classes, and pro-social developmental activities.

 

The grant award will fund the employment of a contracted case manager, treatment providers, training, and transportation for clients.

 

The grant period is July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025.  The amount to be received from CACJ is $12,600. The county match required is $2,224.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The award will provide additional funding and resources to Juvenile Court’s overall grant budget. The grant award requires a cash match of $2,224, which will come from the Juvenile Court’s operating budget

To approve and accept funds in the amount of $12,600 from CACJ  for the purposes of funding DeKalb Juvenile Court’s Journey Mental Health and authorize the Chief Executive Officer and/or designee to execute the Grant Agreement and all necessary documents
