PURPOSE:

To approve a resolution to appropriate Federal Coronavirus Relief Fund proceeds assigned to POETA Account #105424.63258.521209.01.05.602313, for the purposes of Maintaining Food Security for students, providing technology for virtual learning and broadband access to students in DeKalb affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and provide temporary housing assistance to residents who are in need.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

COVID - 19 has impacted many families in District 5 and Public relief is needed to counter the impact of the Coronavirus. This budget amendment will place resources with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to provide relief and support to residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Appropriate an amount not to exceed $410,000 from POETA Account #105424.63258.521209.01.05.602313 to the following Agencies/Community Based Organizations/ District Initiatives listed below.

 

§                     Tabitha’s House (2nd Allocation) - $50,000 (Rent/Mortgage/Utility for Sex Trafficking Victims, Food Security, Virtual Learning Assistance)

§                     SCLC Women, Inc (2nd Allocation) - $25,000 (Food Security, Rent/Mortgage/ Utility Assistance, Virtual Learning Assistance)

§                     District 5 Public Awareness Campaign (Additional Allocation) - $65,000 (COVID - 19 Public Awareness Campaign)

§                     Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda (2nd Allocation) - $25,000 (Food Security, Rent/Mortgage/ Utility Assistance, Virtual Learning Assistance)

§                     DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office. - $50,000 - (Food Security, Rent/Mortgage/Utility
