PURPOSE:
To consider authorizing the conveyance of approximately 0.022 acres (977.42 sf) of county owned property in fee simple and 0.058 acres (2,522.77 sf) of temporary easement at 1242 North Druid Hills Road NE (Brookhaven Library - Parcel ID # 18 238 21 001) to the City of Brookhaven;
To consider authorizing the acceptance of $6,019.00 from the City of Brookhaven for site improvements within the transferred property and easement areas; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents in a form acceptable to the County Attorney to complete the transfer of the county owned property and easement area to the City of Brookhaven, including Rights-of-Entry.
NEED/IMPACT:
The City of Brookhaven plans to construct a sidewalk from Sylvan Circle NE to Apple Valley Road (approximately 1,000 linear feet) on the western side of North Druid Hills Road, NE. These improvements will consist of installation of a five-foot wide concrete sidewalk, ADA accessible ramps, crosswalk striping, and the construction of a retaining wall south of Executive Park South. The construction of this sidewalk will tie into the City’s goals for the Southern Gateway by increasing connectivity and safe walkability throughout the corridor.
This item will authorize transferring to the City of Brookhaven the property and temporary easement segments that are required for the project. State law exempts the sale or disposition to another body politic from publication and sealed bid auction requirements.
FISCAL IMPACT:
DeKalb County will receive $44,600.00 for the value of the Right of Way, Temporary Easement, and Improvements.
